We want all our users to be able to experience the full power of Pinata. To help new creators get a feel for what they can do, we’ve decided to expand some of the best parts of Pinata with our new free plan.
You see the tagline—more features, more…everything. Now we’ll dive into what that means for users, and what you’ll be able to do with your free plan.
Note: If you’re already a customer on a Picnic plan or above, don’t worry. The new free plan does not have the same limits or full access available to paid users, which are generally needed for projects at a certain level of maturity. We just want free users to get a taste of that power, and be comfortable if and when they decide to upgrade and get serious about their project.
Even if a creator isn’t ready for a premium plan, they still deserve to know what it’s like to have the premium experience. Speed, storage, flexibility—we’re making more features available for creators to see what it’s like to build with Pinata.
Think of gateways as a bridge, connecting IPFS (the place we securely host your content) with normal websites (websites that start with “http://). IPFS makes storing, managing and sharing content more efficient and much more stable than traditional means.
When it comes to sharing content and scaling your NFT project, you know that fast is the only acceptable speed. Dedicated gateways allow for all the content you upload (pin) to your account to load super fast, wherever you want to share it.
With the old free plan, you only had access to the public gateway. Although secure, public gateways are prone to traffic jams (also known as rate limiting) when too many people are trying to access their content. With a private dedicated gateway, there is no rate limiting. All your content will load extremely fast, every time.
Your free dedicated gateway allows you to upload and serve individual files like images, files and music files. You can upload HTML content (like websites), but you won’t be able to serve them until you upgrade to a paid plan.

We envision a future for the internet that is created and driven by creators. For that to become a reality, creators need a way to monetize their work and share premium content with their audiences—without the middleman taking huge chunks of their profits. That’s where Submarine comes in.
Submarine acts as your digital access pass to hand out to whoever you deem fit. Whether you are a filmmaker screening private films or a musician wanting to share your newest music with fans, we enable content providers to control how their followers can access private, exclusive content.
And it’s much more than a paywall—you can offer premium content that is unlockable via NFT ownership, Retweets, Geo-location and even Twitch subscription. The new free plan gives you access to our no-code tool Submarine, as well as the Submarine API. For more details on how this all works, check out our knowledge docs on How to Submarine your files.
The number of files (videos, images, audio) you can have in your Pinata account is also increasing with the new free plan. Before you could pin (upload) 100 files. With the new free plan, you can pin up to 500 files. Enough space for a small NFT collection, or just a photo album that you don’t want getting in the wrong hands.
With the increased storage capacity and file limits, we thought it would be only right to let you do more with your content. As part of the new free plan, you now get access to three of our premium creator tools: image optimization, video streaming, and short links.
Rather than jumping around to not-so-safe third party tools, now you can optimize your content and make it audience-ready directly from your Pinata account in just a few clicks. It’s like having your own in-house content machine. You can learn more about these features here: Web3 for All: Pinata’s New Features & Pricing Plans.
We’re extremely excited for all of our builders and creators to experience what Pinata can do. Login to your app to explore the new features. When you’re ready to make the jump and get the full power of Pinata’s platform, check out our pricing page or reach out to team@pinata.cloud for help finding the right plan for you.
Happy pinning!
paragraph — The first thing the music industry needs is more exposure. For artists, listeners and yeah, the labels. Even with the use cases mentioned above, the majority of the music industry still sees NFTs as a novelty rather than a legitimate way to run a business. We see a future where the experience is built and monetized on the blockchain, with labels taking part of the experience, as well.
Second, there needs to be a big jump in user experience. Listeners know what to expect with Spotify and Apple Music: a smooth, intuitive experience that lets them listen to Lil Nas X with just a few clicks. Web3 platforms aren’t quite there. Music NFTs and related premium content require extra steps that most people don’t yet have an appetite for.
paragraph — Musician Daniel Allan spent months building a relationship with the NFT community and raised 50 ETH to fund his new album, Overstimulated. Companies like Audius and artists like Vérité's, who raised $90,000 in an NFT launch, are at the forefront of exploring new ways to get paid. Avenged Sevenfold launched an NFT collection called "Deathbats Club" with 10,000 items that grants holders access to benefits such as meet and greets at shows, lifetime free tickets, limited edition merchandise, and more.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

QUOTE — Everyone is obsessed with making money and seeking alpha, which does a disservice to what [NFTs] can actually do. We have been instructing many bands that NFTs are a ticket for access to an exclusive club.” - M. Shadows, Avenged Sevenfold’s lead singer.
